I began my writing career as a screenwriter and my “War Serenade” script was twice optioned to become a movie. When that didn't happen, I wrote a novel instead. Dubbed “A Love Story for The Ages,” by NYT bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire, "War Serenade" has been graced with a number of awards and received the Rone for Best Audio Book narrated by Peter Noble. My second novel, "Zebra", also inspired by actual events, is a story of a rich friendship between a Zulu boy and a white boy, who grow up together in the mountains of South Africa during the apartheid era. Eventually torn apart by society, these best friends are left shattered and broken. A decade later they meet on opposite sides of a battlefield. Can only one survive? “Zebra”’s audio book is in process with the marvelous Peter Noble at the helm. Peter is a 2020 Audie Winner and narrator of the 2021 Booker Prize Winner. I am South African, born and bred, and have lived in the U.S.A. for half my life. I often feel I am a baobab tree with roots that look the same as branches, but are entirely different. My books are inevitably South African flavored, and though historical, they’re as relevant today as ever. Their universal content is likely to appeal to anyone who has a heart.
